Post NaNo oh-oh

As I said in an earlier comment, I “sort of” finished NaNo. I got the required number of words but what I ended up with was a jumble of ideas and unfinished thoughts. It certainly won’t be its own story for quite a while (lots of editing to do).

Of course, what actually happened was that as soon as NaNo was in full swing, I then thought of a suitable ending to one of my unfinished fics, but I was strong…I didn’t succomb to the WIP temptation.

Anyway, I’m hoping for a story before the Christmas madness happens.

I wanted to do NaNoWriMo but I just never seemed to have any time… *sigh* I definitely didn’t get 50,000 words, more like 50. Did you get anything written for Christmas? I had a vague idea but couldn’t find an appropriately secular tradition for the Voyager crew. I wanted secular since I don’t image Bajorans, Bolians or Vulcans celebrate Christmas. Maybe I’ll find something for next year.

I’ve hardly been on a computer since I posted this entry. Today is the first time for ages I’ve been able to get some time online. I haven’t managed to get any stories finished.
My NaNo story that I’d worked out (kinda) has morphed into two stories, so now I’ve got about six WIPs.
I’m also trying to do a ‘flashback’ kind of thing but I can’t make it work at all. I thought just writing ‘normal’ stories was hard but I just can’t get my head around moving between the past & the present, AT ALL. I take my hat off to people that manage it. It’s a good challenge though, so I’ll keep at it.
I did discover that I enjoyed doing the Slice of Life lighthearted stories though, so I’m also working on a less angsty post Endgame story (make that seven WIPs).

LOL! Don’t worry – you’re not alone. I’ve at least that many WIPs though most of mine are only vague plot ideas without any development beyond that point.

I’ll be eager to read anything you do finish; I love your stuff!

I think writing ‘flashback’ stories is almost like writing two stories and then figuring how to weave the two stories together into a cohesive whole. I’ve had a couple of ideas that I thought might work best in flashback but could never figure out how to make the transitions go smoothly.
