or…why I haven’t finished my story yet.

Well, I was passing through VAMB, trying not to start reading all the stories that have been posted lately, when I saw that someone had posted, not exactly a challenge – but more a request, for a story with J/C having a big argument as they reached home. Hmm, that sounds interesting…and now I can’t get it out of my head. Haven’t exactly got an angle on it yet, but I like the idea.

Other than that, I’ve done nothing much with my “almost there, nearly complete” story.

Well, my “close to being finished” story is now further from completed than it was a few weeks ago. I’ve fiddled and added bits and now it’s all unbalanced (like me). I’ve not tried to get a beta yet, which I must put on my list of things to do (besides finish the damn story!).

The other fic that I’ve been working on is turning out too dark. I’m thinking I might have to let that one go – it’s a bit horrible. This is a bit distressing because I haven’t really got any ideas for further stories. Maybe that’s why the ‘nearly finished’ one is taking so long…

Just when I thought my latest story only needed a bit of editing, I’ve started adding bits. Big bits.

I think I’m going to have to break down and get a beta reader soon too. I just recently re-read Baby on Board and it’s full of bits of stuff that should’ve been deleted or repeating paragraphs. It’s so weird that I can read something and miss huge mistakes and then re-read the same piece, even a day later, and think “what the…?”

So, I’ll keep plugging away with my “almost complete” story and try not to be distracted by the new-ish one that I’m looking for an angle for. Also, the new one is very dark, not like my ‘usual’ stuff and I may have to put it away for a while cause it’s even depressing me and I’ve only just started it.

Well, it’s been a topsy turvy last few weeks for me.

To say that I was surprized and overwhelmed by the response of “Baby on Board” does not quite cover it. There’s a whole bunch of secret baby-ficcers out there just looking for an outlet and BoB sure was popular. In fact, it got more feedback than any of the other (admittedley only three) stories I’ve done. Who’d-a-thought?
So, now I’m down to three stories. To be more accurate, I’ve got one practically complete story (I can hear those snorts from here), one idea for a story with scraps of scenes done and a scene in search of a plot.

In other words…”I got nuthin'”.

And so it goes…

I was very saddened to hear news of the death of Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut changed the way I look at things. His books were, and still are, among my favorites. Breakfast of Champions is perhaps one of the funniest and saddest and maddest books I’ve ever read. Everyone seems to get something different out of his books. Galapagus, Blue Beard…oh man, I’m so thing.
