Having writing troubles? What do you do?

Well, if you’re a sane person, you don’t decide to participate in NaNoWrMo. NaNoWriMo Supporter

But, no one’s ever accused me of being sane.

I’ve been siezed with the urge to try and write 50,000 words in 30 days. Hey, Bookends is over 50,000 words. And that only took 30 months. 30 days, 30 months…it’s practically the same thing, right?

Anyway, we shall see. Lately, I’ve barely been able to get to a PC, let alone write anything on one. I have great things planned (& hoped) for next month. With a bit of luck, ‘real life’ will give me a break for around four weeks and let me wallow in wordiness.

All this has necessitated a couple of things: The first is I’ve had to start working on an outline for my “novel”. So far, I’ve got a little idea which I’m hoping to turn into a biggish idea. It also means that I’ll have to ‘rest’ my current projects. No biggie – they’re all stuck. And not just because of my non-ability to get near a computer, but more to do with my non-ability to move them along. I still have great hopes of finishing them though.

It’s just not happening

I’m getting a little disheartened by my (non) progress on the fics I’m currently working on. Really, I’m beginning to think I’ve just got to bite the bullet and get on with them i.e. stop angsting and start writing.

Yes, shouting at myself could certainly help. It couldn’t hurt.

Looking on the bright side, and I’m sincerly hoping there is at least one, I have had a few ideas for other stories. The down side to this is that these ideas distract me (and that doesn’t take much) from my other works.

Concentrate. I really need to concentrate.

Officially now “world’s slowest writer”

I’m doing it letter by letter. Each one hand crafted. None of your crap fonts. It’s all quality here.

Slooooowly, I’m working on two stories. They’re both around 6,000 words so far and growing with the staggering pace of a snail. On valium. But, one is almost finished. And when I say “almost”, I mean a bit closer than it was the last time I thought it was almost finished. What I really need are some synonyms for “almost”.

Or, I could just finish the stinking story. Considering it’s not even that good, it’s certainly taking long enough. And scary discovery number sixty eight, I just discovered that I started one of them over twelve months ago (and that’s not even the one closest to completion).

Now here’s irony

I still haven’t been able to finish Bookends. I just can’t get a hook. It’s so close to being over that I can, but it’s probably just my poor PC saying “Enough! Enough!”

But, while I’ve been pondering that non-ending, I’ve virtually finished a very much shorter story with the working title of “Milk Run”. Of course, it’s almost done, in the great tradition of all my jottingz. It just needs a bit of fixing up around the edges. I’ve already written the ending for it (no, really).
